The Route For Export And Import Transport Moves From Europe To Asia

The decline in shipments to Europe, which is Turkey's most important export and import market, has accelerated, the transporter turned the route to Asian countries. According to the data provided by the International Transporters Association (UND) in January-February 2019; exports decreased by 3 percent in the first two months, while in some important European countries this rate was up to 15 percent.

The Route For Export And Import Transport Moves From Europe To Asia

However, exports to the Turkic Republics and the Russian Federation increased significantly. Transports to Iraq and Syria have accelerated in the Middle East. Transportation in imports are in the same situation, there was a 10 per cent decline in Europe, while the CIS and Central Asian countries increased imports by 20 per cent.

Erman Ereke: Transport to Russia and China to accelerate

Commenting on the issue, UND Chief Executive Erman Ereke said that; “Exports to European countries, especially in the leading countries have decreases as 5% in Germany, 15% in Italy and 7% in France. Exports to CIS and Central Asian countries, there are the increases especially as 29% to Uzbekistan, 32% to Turkmenistan, 21% to Russia, 40% to Kazakhstan. In terms of imports, there is a 10% decrease in Europe, but a 20% increase in CIS and Central Asian countries. The empty returns of Turkish vehicles from Europe increased by 47%, while the empty returns from CIS and Central Asian countries decreased by 40%. We see that export and import transports in CIS and Central Asian countries are more stable and this is one of the positive results. When we look at the trade flow through transport figures, we see that there is a shift from Europe to Asian countries in terms of both export and import. We expect further improvement of relations with Russia in the coming periods, implementation of visa liberalization for trucking rig drivers, road transport agreement signed with China and renewed road transport agreement with Uzbekistan; the importance of the region will increase further and our foreign trade will accelerate with the number of transport.
