TRUCKER LEAVES THIS PROFESSION BECAUSE THEY CANNOT MAKE MONEY
Chairman Kocabaş expressed his expectations from the authorities, while expressing the problems they faced in the sector: We want the truckers to be protected, we want this to be conveyed to our state authorities. The truckers are not protected; but the biggest supporter of the state is truckers.
Kocabaş, who started his speech by informing us about the cooperative, said that; “I have been the Chairman of the cooperative for 6-7 months. Our cooperative was established in 2000. Our cooperative has 101 members and 150 vehicles. We usually carry wheat, chickpeas, barley and straw. There is a paper mill here; 10 vehicles of us also work for the paper factory, we are transporting paper. We have the K1 Certificate. The K1 document is already an obligation imposed by the state.
A System Should be Brought that will Suit the Requirements of Turkey
Expressing the problems regarding the sector, Kocabaş said in his speech that; “When you talk about the truckers, tax comes to mind. We buy spare parts or tires and pay taxes on all of them. The tachograph changes every 5 years. The tachograph renewal issue bothers us. There is always an innovation, the tachograph subject should be put in a permanent system. A tachograph today is 3 thousand liras. All our vehicles now have tachographs and we have to have it installed. There are the police traffic stops and then the police fines if you break the law. If a permanent application is introduced, we will all be satisfied. We complain that an application for truckers is introduced every 5 years. There should be the tachograph, but it should be permanent and a system should be made to conform to the conditions of Turkey.
"We Have No Problem That Cannot Be Solved If We Can Be Together"
Pointing out that there is no unity in the sector, Kocabaş said: Shipping prices are very low. Truck driver quits this profession because he cannot make money. The truck driver says, “I am going to sell my truck and work as driver”. Logistics take all tenders. Trucking is not what it used to be. The biggest problem of cooperatives is the lack of unity. We have no problem that cannot be solved if we can be together. We are trying to gather; I say 'let's do these' but it doesn't work. The price goes up in fines without stopping. Of course, nobody intentionally wants to be punished, the penalties are very high. The truck driver cannot make money. In the past, we used to take wheat and return empty, now there is no way to come empty. Because the trucker will take a job from where he goes and come back so that he can get a profit.”
" Trucking Will End Slowly In This Way"
Expressing that the trucking profession will end due to high costs, Kocabaş said that; “We, as truckers, are very complaining about taxes; taxes are too high. If there is a raise, it comes to diesel. Banderols are very expensive. The input and output of the truckers should be looked at, but we are not taken into consideration. Diesel, accountant, employing workers… We pay 18 percent VAT in a hundred lira. In this way, the trucking will gradually end. "
"Cooperatives Are the Guarantor Both for the Freight Carried and Their Members"
Expressing that companies do not prefer to work with cooperatives, Kocabaş said that; “Companies should prefer cooperative members. The freight we carry is guaranteed; delivered to the address. They may call the cooperatives and get information; ask and investigate by employers who are members of the cooperative. Cooperatives are the guarantor both for the freight carried and their members. If the property of the company is damaged, the cooperative will pay that money. However, cooperatives are not preferred, so there is no point in cooperatives. "
