The Industry Wants The Right Of Free Movement For The Driver

We continue to listen to the sector within the scope of our international transports file. This time, we listen to Zahit Sağlık's evaluations about the company and the sector. Zahit Sağlık emphasizes that visa, quota, toll and driving times are the biggest problems experienced by Turkish transporters and draws attention to the need to provide drivers with the right of free movement or visa convenience. Details are here..

The Industry Wants The Right Of Free Movement For The Driver

Sağlık Logistics, Zahit Sağlık:

“WE CARRY OUT ALL OF OUR OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES WITH GREEN LOGISTICS AWARENESS, AND WE EMPOWER THE INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM”

“WITH OUR CORPORATE STRUCTURE, WE PROVIDE SERVICE TO OUR CUSTOMERS AT WORLD STANDARDS”

Zahit Sağlık from Sağlık Logistics stated that Sağlık Logistics, which was founded in the 1950s and was incorporated 43 years ago, continues on its way by being developed by the second generation. Sağlık Logistics provides worldwide logistics solutions with its modern vehicle fleet, logistics facilities, qualified human resources, strong group companies and international solution partners. With our structure that continues to increase its corporate development and attaches importance to professionalism, we have added the third generation to our structure. Our aim is to bring in professionals who are experts in their business with a sustainable brand structure that has been passed down from generation to generation, and with this power, Sağlık Logistics continues on its way.”

“We Provide Logistics Services to a Wide Range”

Emphasizing that the group realizes the right logistics solutions that will meet customer needs and expectations at the maximum level by offering time, cost and quality together, simultaneously, Sağlık said that; “We can offer international road, sea, air and rail transport, bonded warehousing, free warehousing, express transport and micro distribution services individually or in an integrated manner. We provide logistical support to the economic growth of our country and the commercial development of our customers, together with our group companies and our solution partners, with whom we travel abroad and provide strong operations at 40 points in Europe. We offer logistics services to a wide range of sectors, from automotive to textile, from durable consumer goods to chemistry and packaging sector, from e-commerce to Sağlık and electronics sector, from flammable materials to food and energy sector.”

“Experience is Very Important for a Safe, Fast and Economical Logistics Service”

Underlining that their priority is to provide a quality and efficient service while managing logistics operations, Sağlık said that; “In this sense, we have investments for our processes and of course, these investments continue by being updated. Experience is very important for a safe, fast and economical logistics service. With our experience of more than half a century, we are a large team that works meticulously in the services we offer, from insuring the process to the timely planning of transportation, from incorporating the necessary transportation modes into the operational process, to cost calculations and creating the necessary routes for this.”

“The Most Important Difference That Separates Us From Others Is Our Experience”

Stating that they are celebrating their 43rd anniversary this year, Sağlık drew attention to their experience in the sector as Sağlık Logistics and said that;:“We have been providing uninterrupted service to our valued customers since the birth of the Turkish transportation industry. We are among the creative partners of the Turkey-Italy Ro-Ro line, and the Austria and Hungary Ro-La lines. The most important difference that separates us is our experience. We carry this experience to the present with institutionalism and technological solutions, and we operate ahead of today with our modernized services in both Intermodal transportation and warehousing. By transforming a deep-rooted family company into a corporate identity like most international companies today, we both preserve traditional and reliable family ties and offer our customers world-class service with our corporate structure.”

“We Are Fully Aware of Our Responsibilities Towards Future Generations”

Referring to the work they carry out in the context of sustainability and green logistics, Sağlık states that each sector should research the damage it causes to the world within itself and produce solutions for this and apply it. Sağlık said that; “In short, if everyone makes an effort to sweep in front of their door, the result will be quite effective. We are fully aware of our responsibilities towards future generations. With this awareness, we pay attention to the fact that all our vehicles are in Euro 6 norms. We make special efforts to reduce the release of harmful substances to nature. We pay attention to the fact that all our vehicles in our fleet do not exceed the average age of 2 years and that all their maintenance is done on time, and to improve the equipment in our vehicles by making use of technological developments in this sense. We pay attention to the fact that the equipment we use in our warehouses works with electrical energy. We are working on investments made for our warehouses, especially on clean energy and self-sufficiency. We continue to work for warehouses that can produce their own energy and even share their energy through solar energy. With the awareness of green logistics, we carry out all our operational activities meticulously and focus on the Intermodal transportation system. In short, we strive to fulfill our duties towards the world and nature as much as we can.”

“Digitalization is Our Main Subject

Stating that the sector and the services they provide require continuous renewal, development, growth and keeping abreast of the era, Sağlık said that; “Our biennial investments and fleet renewal efforts for our vehicles, which are indispensable for road transport, continue on a routine basis. In our warehouses and free warehouses, we continue on our way by expanding these areas, together with the investments we made for our smart storage systems. Our projects on airway and rail transport models, our feasibility studies and our efforts to develop the Intermodal structure are among our agenda topics. In addition to all these, the subject we attach great importance to investment is digitalization. Our investments in this direction continue to be updated and developed.”

“Visa, Quota, Toll and Driving Times are the Biggest Problems for Turkish Transporters”

Mentioning the challenges faced by the sector, Sağlık states that visa, quota, toll and driving times are the biggest problems experienced by Turkish transporters. Sağlık said that, “The first solution that can be made here is to grant the right of free movement or visa convenience to the drivers who assume the greatest responsibility in road transport, as is practiced in air and sea transport modes. In this way, while the product is in free circulation, its carrier is not restricted. Regarding quotas, the Ministries of Foreign Trade and Transport need to meet at the same table and join forces to find effective solutions in line with the interests of the countries.

“Facing Risks for Compensation for the Time Lost at the Doors”

Referring to the long waiting times at the gates, Sağlık states that this situation negatively affects the driving times and said that; “Time wasted unnecessarily under the name of bureaucratic processes at the border gates not only undermines the trade of the exporters, but also exposes us to serious problems. Sometimes, you cannot complete the operation that you need to perform within a certain period of time, and the product that you need to deliver to the market place, just for this reason. Sometimes, you face risks to compensate for the time lost at the gates and you have to pay heavy fines that are many times more than the freight charge. Problems will continue to increase as long as border crossing systems do not follow the same bureaucracy and go digital. For all these problems, the state should come together with the parties at every troubled point and show its will on how to reverse this inefficiency.”

“The Importance of the Logistics Sector in Our Country Still Has Not Been Appreciated”

Regarding the associations that he stated as the representatives of the sector, Sağlık said that; “Associationism in Turkey is misunderstood in my opinion, the logistics industry is one of the most important links of the supply chain in the world and it has been included in the economic policies of great states for years. I still do not think that the importance of the logistics sector in our country is grasped. The sector representative association will ensure this. While he should have multiplied his strength and paved the way for the industry with the projects he created, I insistently underlined a radical change due to this narrow perspective in the current administration, and this is still my expectation. Either the management will change its mentality or the management will change. Change is necessary!”

“We Have To Provide An Environment Of Trust As Soon As Possible”

Stating that the view of foreign capital towards Turkey is abstaining due to the ongoing technical and infrastructure problems, Sağlık adds the following: “Foreign capital, where it wants to invest, first looks at the environment of trust, bureaucracy and efficiency. These criteria are formed by technical and infrastructure solutions. The more effective these formations are, the more foreign capital will increase from there. The fact that there are still technical and infrastructure problems in our country causes foreign capital to abstain from its view of Turkey. In order to create the balance, we have to provide the necessary environment of trust as soon as possible.”
