"Increations Need to be Increased"

Ahmet Doğan Tanker Finance Manager and the company's 3rd generation representative, Hatice Doğan Cav, explains the details and sector assessments of Ahmet Doğan Tanker, one of the superstructure companies, to Nuray Pekcan, Editor-in-Chief of My Truck Magazine. Stating that they work without interrupting production despite the negativities of the pandemic, Doğan Cav draws attention to the lack of qualified personnel and audit issues, which are two important issues of the sector...

 Increations Need to be Increased

Stating that the company was founded by their grandfather Ahmet Doğan in 1952 and that the first steps of institutionalization were taken by their father Yılmaz Doğan in 1998; Doğan Cav said that they manufacture water trucks anf fuel oil tankers with ADR, closed box repair maintenance vehicles, combined, vacuum trucks, skittles, underground and above-ground storage tanks. Stating that they also manufacture water pumps and irrigation heads used in sprinklers, Doğan Cav said that; “We work with public institutions and municipalities. We also work with many different places than the public sector. We mostly deliver ADR tankers to the private sector. However, our products reach everyone. We made our first exports to the Middle East countries in 2007 and later expanded to more areas. We mostly export combine, trenching and cleaning tools. We export tankers with ADR, mainly to Turkic Republics. For example, we had two combined exports last November.”

 

“We Worked Intensively Even During the Pandemic Restriction Process”

Stating that there was a standstill related to the pandemic and that this situation affected their sales abroad, Doğan Cav states that there were also periods when they had difficulties in supplying materials from abroad. Stating that they faced the same situation in our country, Doğan Cav said that; “While most companies closed down completely during the pandemic restriction process, we continued to work with all our staff. During the pandemic, we also had periods when we worked on Saturdays and Sundays. The reason for this was that the street-washing tankers and disinfecting vehicles came to repair the problems experienced in their parts. The pauses in our business, of course, forced us as well as everyone else, but we worked intensely even during the closure process. Demand increased in exports, and parts for knuckles and vacuum trucks were demanded from all over the world. There were times when we had difficulties in 2021 with the pandemic. There were times when there was a job loss because our staff got sick, and we paused for this reason, which caused our work to be extended. However, in some periods, we also turned the crisis into an opportunity.”

 

“We Produce Each of Our Products in Compliance with New Legislation and Standards”

Stating that the demand for tankers continues due to the changing legislation for ADR vehicles and therefore there is no hesitation, Doğan Cav said that; “Petrol and fuel companies need to constantly renew their tankers due to the change in legislation. With the new legislation, it is necessary to build a tanker with ADR, so we did not experience much hesitation. There are times when we have difficulties in finding sheet metal in terms of raw materials. We need to use sheet metal with a certain certificate in tankers with ADR, and we produce each of our products in accordance with new regulations and standards. In other words, no product labeled Ahmet Doğan Tanker can be outside the standards. That's why we comply with whatever the standard requires regarding raw materials or other issues. Since we are focused on customer satisfaction, there are times when we have difficulty in finding raw materials.”

 

“We Are Trying To Move Forward In A Way That Will Satisfy The Customers Without Tiring Them”

Stating that there are disruptions in production in case of problems in the supply of materials, Doğan Cav states that they had to postpone the products because the materials did not arrive. Doğan Cav also said that; “If they have the material, but if it's a hard-to-find material, the prices can change a lot. They can give exorbitant prices or make it difficult to pay. This is reflected in our prices. For this reason, there may even be people who suspend their work. However, we have been providing convenience at the payment stage since our establishment. We are trying to proceed in a way that will satisfy the customers without tiring them.”

 

“We Design Every Equipment We Make According To The Customer's Request”

Emphasizing that they manufacture separate equipment for each customer and work in boutiques, Doğan Cav emphasizes that they produce vehicles by taking into account even the climatic conditions, and that they do a separate study for each vehicle; Doğan Cav said that; “We are a company that is constantly audited even for quality certificates. We see our deficiencies, if any, in the audits and continue on our way by correcting them. At this stage, there is no new equipment other than our current product group, but we design every equipment we make according to the customer's request. For this reason, each of them is a separate innovation for us.”

 

“We Have Difficulty Finding Qualified Personnel”

Pointing out that they receive machinery and investment support as government incentives, Doğan Cav states that they also benefit from SSI and vocational qualification supports. Doğan Cav said that; “We have a hard time finding workers, especially qualified personnel. The new generation is turning to jobs that require desk and less physical strength. Even if we have documented the personnel we hired to train, they may leave because the work is too heavy. There are companies that benefit from some government support. I think the supports are always beneficial for the industry.”

 

“We Are Trying To Create Good Works Both For Our Own Brand And For The Operation”

Emphasizing that they use TSI-approved products, Doğan Cav draws attention to the fact that they are a company that works by documenting and auditing everything from quality certificates to utility model certificates. Doğan Cav finally said that; “There are companies that do this job, but they do not even have quality certificates. When the customer enters the price research, he can say, "It is done cheaper there." But the other party does not employ an engineer or is subject to an audit. Since some companies care about the quality as much as we do and do not take this into account, customers are not satisfied with the vehicle made. The vehicle is causing a problem somewhere and they come to us for repair. We enter our audits, we are one of the rare companies that even the ministry is satisfied with. At this stage, we differ from other companies. We are trying to create good works both on behalf of our own brand and on behalf of the operation. When there is no sanction for those working under the stairs, they somehow put stones in front of us. Controls need to be increased.”
