Our Combined Channel Opening Tanker is used by municipalities, infrastructure companies, and private cleaning companies. It is used for cleaning blocked sewage lines with high-pressure water and vacuuming. Our Water and Irrigation Tanker, which is used for agricultural irrigation, road watering, and firefighting, is used by municipalities, the agricultural sector, and construction companies. The fire truck, used for road washing, fire extinguishing, and dust suppression, is used by municipalities, construction, and mining companies. The new general safety regulations (GSR II), which came into effect in July 2024, have led to some challenges in the superstructure sector, and the process of complying with these regulations has brought additional costs and technical challenges for manufacturers. Stating that they have fully aligned their product groups with this legislation and the related requirements, Doğan made the following statements: "As the main challenge, we can say that the new regulations include additional requirements for the safety of hydraulic and vacuum systems, compliance with emergency scenario standards, and vehicle stability tests. In our alignment efforts, we integrated advanced valve and sensor technologies to enhance safety in pressure systems. We used vacuum pumps and hydrostatic safety systems that comply with European standards. For Water and Irrigation Tankers and Fire Trucks, the main challenges were the durability of the tank body in water transport tankers, rollover tests, and the need for new safety measures in loading and unloading systems. For these products, we preferred more durable ST52 steel and stainless coatings for the tank bodies. Additionally, we added electronic water level sensors and emergency valves.”

Regarding the electronic system updates, Doğan said the following about the alignment process: "For vehicle safety regulation compliance, we worked on speed-limiting systems, rearview cameras, and emergency braking systems. We also enhanced operational safety with digital tracking systems. As Teknik Tanker, we maintain our competitiveness in the European market by producing in compliance with GSR II and continue to offer products with next-generation safety standards."

Product Development

When looking at tanker production in Türkiye, we observe that Turkish tanker manufacturers generally produce in compliance with EN 13094, ADR (Hazardous Goods Transportation Regulations), ISO, and TSE standards. Stainless steel (AISI 304, AISI 316) and aluminum are commonly used materials. Manufacturers in Europe and the U.S. use more advanced materials such as high-strength steel, special alloyed aluminum, and carbon fiber-reinforced materials. We can see that the primary focus in material selection is on lightness and corrosion resistance. For example, companies in the Netherlands and Germany are producing ultra-light carbon composite tankers. When we asked Doğan how they develop their products in this direction, he said that; "We use Stainless Steel (AISI 304, AISI 316) and ST37/ST52 Carbon Steel in the production of vacuum trucks, combined channel opening systems, water tankers, and fire trucks. These materials provide durability, high pressure resistance, and cost advantages. As a disadvantage, weight and the lack of long-term resistance to certain corrosive chemicals can be mentioned. We also use aluminum and special alloys in some parts for lightweight tankers and mobile applications. This gives us the opportunity to create lighter structures and products with high resistance to corrosion. At this point, I would like to add that we are working on special aluminum alloy solutions for the European market."

"We use coating and corrosion prevention solutions in tanks carrying acidic liquids and special chemical transportation systems. The prominent technologies include epoxy coatings, ceramic-based protective coatings, and internal surface passivation processes."
